Kuala Terengganu – The Malaysian rubber industry currently buoyed by strong demand and high prices is set to take advantage of yet another boon to its overall prosperity with the launch of a locally produced fertilizer, 99 PLUS which increases latex yield.
CCM Fertilizers’s 99 PLUS was launched by the Deputy Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak at the closing ceremony of the Minggu Saham Amanah Malaysia in Pantai Batu Burok here in Kuala Terengganu today.
"The introduction of innovative and modern fertilizers like 99 PLUS helps ensure higher production of rubber, improve productivity of the sector and also capture a larger slice of the market," said Dr Mohd Hashim Tajudin, the Group Managing Director of Chemical Company of Malaysia Berhad after the launch of 99 PLUS.
Dr Mohd Hashim Tajudin said 99 PLUS contains magnesium, an essential nutrient to help increase latex production in rubber trees within a short period and works well with mature tress and those planted in the interior with magnesium deficient soil conditions.
99 PLUS an enhanced version of the current 99A fertilizer range, also helps to strengthen the cells in rubber clones that are easily damaged by wind.
The introduction of 99 PLUS Fertilizer will benefit the rubber growing community and in particular Malaysia’s 225,000 smallholders who are working towards meeting the increasingly high demand for natural rubber, whose prices have hit a 20 year high of RM7 per kg and lately up to RM8.10 per kg.
99 PLUS is the product of CCM Fertilizers’ research and development effort to produce a new formulation to greatly improve agricultural yields in the country.
CCM Fertilizers exports a wide range of fertilizers throughout Southeast Asia and plans to explore markets for 99 PLUS. CCM Fertilizers'' Cock Head brand fertilizer is the leading product in the market and is renowned in the plantation and smallholder sector in Malaysia.
A division of CCM, CCM Fertilizers is the only compound fertilizer manufacturer in Malaysia to have received both SIRIM and MS ISO 9001:2000 quality awards. CCM is listed on the main board of Bursa Malaysia and is a key player in the fertilizers, chemicals and pharmaceuticals industry.
