Kuala Lumpur – For the fifth consecutive year, Chemical Company of Malaysia Berhad (CCM) has donated 28,000 sets of personal health kits worth RM700,000 to pilgrims preparing for the Haj through the Sahabat Korporat Tabung Haji programme. To date, CCM has contributed over 200,000 health kits worth more than RM4 million.

CCM also donated 3,000 health kits to Singaporean and 1,800 sets to Bruneian pilgrims, exemplifying the Group’s commitment in extending its corporate responsibility initiatives to other ASEAN countries.

CCM Bhd Group Managing Director, Dato’ Dr Mohd Hashim Tajudin said the Group understands the pilgrims’ situation when performing religious commitments during the Haj, which could be demanding for them, physically and mentally.

“Every year, millions of pilgrims gather to perform the Haj in very crowded conditions under the sweltering heat, exposing them to various ailments such as headaches, eye irritation and sore throat. The constant travelling to holy sites in and around Mecca and Medina also exposes pilgrims to muscular strain.

“Our health kits are well equipped to treat and manage these simple ailments and will certainly come in handy for not only our local pilgrims but also those from our neighbouring countries in their quest to fulfill the fifth pillar of Islam,” said Dato’ Dr Mohd Hashim”.

Dato’ Dr Mohd Hashim added the daily routines change for a period of more than a month when they embark on the Haj where geography, weather, diet and habits are different.

“We feel that it is important for the pilgrims to take better care of their health to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage.
“We believe our efforts will improve the pilgrims’ knowledge on health care, hygiene and self management and hopefully they will avoid any complications that may be associated with the challenging conditions faced during the Haj,” said Dato’ Dr Mohd Hashim.

The health kit comprises CCM pharmaceutical division’s products such as Flavettes Vitamin C to strengthen body’s resistance by boosting the immune system; Uphamol 650 for safe and effective relief from headaches, pain or fever; Sloans ointment to provide relief for muscular aches and pains; O-Fresh for daily oral hygiene and protection against germs that cause bad breath and dental plaque; Flavettes Lozenges to provide instant relief for sore throats and Eye Glo to relieve eye irritations caused by dry conditions.
