CCM Duopharma Biotech Berhad (CCMD) recorded a 21 per cent growth in revenue of RM33.5 million in its second quarter ended June 30, 2008 from RM27.7 million in the corresponding quarter last year.

CCMD’s profit before tax (PBT) increased by 3 per cent to RM10.8 million from RM10.5 million in the same period last year. This was mainly due to an increase in raw material and other operational costs absorbed by the Company.

In comparison with the preceding quarter’s results, CCMD achieved a 22 per cent increase in revenue from RM27.5 million and a 9 per cent growth in PBT from RM9.8 million. The improved performance was a result of increased sales to the private market as well as to government hospitals.

For the current financial period ended 30 June 2008, the Board of Directors is recommending an interim tax exempt dividend of 16% (8 sen) per share based on paid up capital of approximately 139.5 million shares at par value of RM0.50 each {2007: 28% (14 sen) per share less 27% income tax}. The book closure date in respect of the interim dividend is on 10 October 2008 and the dividend will be paid on 28 October 2008.

CCMD aims to achieve greater results in the future and the Company is investing RM75 million for a three-year plant expansion from 2008 to 2010 as part of its strategy in meeting its growth target. The first phase started in mid-August includes upgrading of warehousing capacity, improvement of amenities and increase of production capacity. Once completed, the plant expansion will enhance operational efficiencies for the production of small volume injectables and liquids, and increase ampoules packing capacity without disrupting the existing manufacturing facility.
