Chemical Company of Malaysia Berhad (CCM) is set to enhance its lucrative watercare business through the acquisition of 97 per cent equity of Enersave Water Sdn Bhd (EWSB) for RM38.28 million.
CCM through its Chemicals Division, operates the Watercare business, which is currently the leading supplier of water treatment solutions to the municipal and industrial waste water sectors.
EWSB, established in 2003 is principally involved in designing, installing and providing maintenance services for water purification and waste water treatment systems primarily for the Oil & Gas, Microelectronics and Utilities sectors. EWSB is an approved water specialist for international EPCC contractors such as Technip, Lurgi and M&W Zanders.
CCM Berhad Group Managing Director, Dato’ Dr Mohd Hashim Tajudin said the acquisition of EWSB is in line with the Group’s long-term strategy of diversifying its current expertise in chemical treatment to cover a wider spectrum of offering to the water industry. This acquisition will expand our offering of watercare solutions to include physical water treatment technology in the clean water and waste water sectors, covering drinking water, sewage treatment, recreational water parks and industrial waste water. We also provide services including consultation on treatment process optimisation, construction, upgrading and rehabilitation of water treatment facilities.
“The services sector is a new business focus for our watercare business and we believe that we would be able to add value to our customers while generating additional revenue. We are confident that the acquisition will complement our mission to be a Total Solutions Provider as well as realise our vision of becoming the leading player in this area,” Dato’ Dr Mohd Hashim added. For 2006, EWSB recorded a revenue of RM31 mil and Profit After Tax of RM3.1 mil. Going forward, this acquisition of EWSB is expected to improve the earnings of CCM Group.

CCM has won numerous awards and accreditation for meeting Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) standards. CCM emerged as one of the biggest winners at the Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia (CICM) Awards 2006. CCM won five Gold Awards out of six in the general chemicals category. The success at the CICM Awards was a testament to CCM’s commitment to achieve the highest level of performance in areas such as chemical research, environmental protection measures, employee safety and introduction of new products.
CCM is listed on the main board of Bursa Malaysia with a market capitalisation of RM1.3 billion and is a key player in the fertilizers, chemicals and pharmaceuticals industry.
